Dr. McCarthy was born in la grange, IL. She graduated from the University of wisconsin - madison with a B.S. in biology. She then attended the New England college of optometry in Boston where she received her doctorate in optometry, earning honors at her clinical rotations. Her clinical training was concentrated in ocular disease and included a 6 month rotation at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in miami, FL. following optometry school Dr. McCarthy went on to complete a residency at the illinois eye institute in primary care and ocular disease.
since completing her residency, Dr McCarthy has had experience caring for patients in various clinical settings. specifically, her skills include medical optometry, dry eye treatment, pre and post operative care with refractive surgery, and scleral contact lens fittings.
she received her fellowship from the american academy of optometry and is a member of the illinois optometric association.
Dr. McCarthy's interest include traveling and spending time with her husband, two kids, and her french bulldog Jacques.
